Swedish FM to Visit Gaza

Carl Bildt, the Swedish minister for foreign affairs, is traveling to Gaza on Tuesday to tour the area and visit some humanitarian organizations.
Bildt will visit Al Quds hospital under the auspices of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), according to a statement issued by the Swedish government.
"The conflict has not ended yet in Gaza and the situation there is even worse in our eyes," Bildt said in his blog Tuesday morning.
He said the purpose of the visit is to see the realities and create a better situation for Gaza.
Bildt said he would tour Gaza hospitals, schools and residential areas, and visit different humanitarian organizations that are working hard to meliorate living conditions in the region.
"Not only the United Nations's helping organization UNRWA, but also other agencies that support those suffering people," Bildt said.
On January 5, the Swedish government announced that it would send 10 million kronor (about US$1.3 million) of emergency aid through the United Nations to the Palestinians in Gaza.
