Five people were tested positive for the A/H1N1 influenza virus in Hong Kong on Saturday, taking the number of confirmed cases of the disease in the city to 78, local health authorities said.
The Center for Health Protection of Hong Kong has confirmed four imported cases, while one has not been classified.
Of the four imported cases, one involved a 28-year-old Philippine maid who flew from the Philippines earlier. She developed symptoms on June 11 and was admitted to the hospital on June 12 for quarantine, said the center's controller Thomas Tsang at a press briefing, adding that the patient's employer was under medical surveillance and treatment.
The other three imported cases were from the US, Canada and Thailand, which involved two men and one women, aged between 17 and 27, who were rushed to the hospital directly from the airport once they arrived at Hong Kong.
The case that has not been classified involved a 19-year-old woman who showed flu symptoms and confirmed to have infected with the new flu on June 12.
Tsang said that the patient visited the Jiangxi province of the mainland in early June and arrived at Guangzhou where she left for Hong Kong on June 10 by rail.
"Since she had been in different places during the incubation period, the case is not yet classified," said Tsang.
