In Shipai village of Dongguan, south China's Guangdong Province, residents will receive 25 years of free education, from kindergarten until doctorate degree studies, effective Aug 25, 2010, Beijing News Daily reported Wednesday.

Subsidies corresponding to students' learning levels will vary from 3,000 yuan (US$441) to 10,000 yuan (US$1,470) every year.

Education subsidies will guarantee that every villager with a registered permanent residence can enjoy the fruits of local economic development and ease families' burdens of supporting children's education, a local official said.

The education subsidy policies have been implemented gradually. Senior high school students have received subsidies since 2008; kindergarten pupils since 2009; and now, university students.
