Internet service in northwestern China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region has fully resumed as of Friday, the local government information office announced in a statement.
In the statement, the administration also urged collective efforts to create a healthy Internet environment and offered hotlines for netizens to report malicious content.
Internet services were suspended and text messages sent through cell phones were restricted in the region after last year's July 5 riot left 197 dead.
The local government lifted restriction on cell phone messages in March, and had been phasing out the Internet controls.
