5 Dead, 10 Missing in C China Rainstorm

Five people died and 10 others were reported missing after heavy rain swept central China's Hunan Province from Thursday to Saturday, authorities said.
The five were killed by landslides. As for the missing, four were swept away by flood water and the remainders were missing after a landslide in Huaihua City. About 64,000 people have been evacuated.
The rainstorm triggered landslides and floods in many areas, inundating some township government seats and villages, said the Hunan Provincial Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters.
In the 24 hours ending 8:00 AM on Saturday, the Shendu monitoring station in Hongjiang City reported a precipitation of 399.5 mm and the water level at the monitoring center in Hongjiang City was 302 mm, the headquarters said.
The rainy weather will continue in the following three days.
The Hunan Provincial Civil Affairs Department dispatched working teams to check the losses and carry out relief work on Saturday afternoon.
