5 Dead, 2 Missing in Henan Chemical Plant Blast

The death toll from a chemical plant explosion in central China's Henan Province early on Wednesday has risen to five with two missing, rescuers said.

The blast, followed by a fire, was reported at 2:00 AM at Luoran Co. Ltd in Luoyang City. The dead and missing are workers of the company.

More than 100 were injured and hospitalized. Residents within 1,000 meters from the company were evacuated after the blast.

The licensed company has about 180 registered employees.

The fire was extinguished by midday on Wednesday.
