Representatives of Islamic Hamas movement and Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah movement headed for Cairo on Tuesday to resume reconciliation talks.

The second round of the dialogue is scheduled to start Wednesday where the Palestinian conferees have to settle issues that were not agreed upon in the first phase of the talks.

"The talks will focus on the issues that were not solved, mainly the program of the transitional government, the electoral system, the national reference and the security file," said Hamas' spokesman Fawzi Barhoum.

Earlier, the factions agreed on forming a transitional government that will rule until holding elections by January 2010.Among the differences still the Palestinian Liberation Organization's (PLO) reference during the transitional period.

The unity government is sought to replace two feuding administrations, including Hamas' government of Gaza and the western-backed government that Abbas formed in West Bank after his forces lost control of Gaza in 2007.

Barhoum said Hamas' delegation will comprise leaders from Gaza Strip and from the Hamas' politburo based in Damascus.

Meanwhile, a Fatah official said his movement's delegation will arrive in Cairo Tuesday and will hold a meeting with Hamas.

"Tomorrow (Wednesday), Egyptian officials will meet Hamas and Fatah in preparation for a wider conference that will be held this week and will be attended by all the factions," said Fatah representative Azzam al-Ahamd.
