The next round of the inter-Palestinian national unity talks will be resumed in the Egyptian capital of Cairo early next month, the Egyptian MENA news agency reported on Tuesday.

Under the sponsorship of Egypt, Palestinian factions are expected to continue their dialogue after the upcoming Arab summit, which was scheduled for March 30 in the Qatari capital of Doha, said MENA, citing Palestinian and Egyptian sources.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has been informed by the Egyptian side on the resumption of the talks, A senior official in Fatah movement said Tuesday.

The Palestinian factions will discuss the pending issues, including the formation of a new Palestinian government and the election law, said the sources on condition of anonymity.

Earlier in the day, a senior Palestinian official also confirmed that the next round of inter-reconciliation Palestinian talks are to resume before the first weekend of April.

Rabah Muhana, top leader of the Popular Front to Liberate Palestine (PFLP), said in a statement that Palestinian conferees will resume their dialogue "to conclude all outstanding issues."

On Thursday, rival Palestinian groups suspended their reconciliation talks started on March 10 in Cairo, without reaching a major breakthrough on pending issues.

The Palestinian factions set up five committees to deal with the issues of forming a Palestinian national unity government, reforming the security services, holding elections, reforming the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and pushing forward the reconciliation.

The committees have made big progress during the talks, but a number of obstacles still remain, particularly on the formation of a new government.

Fatah wants the would-be government to commit to the PLO obligations, which is seen by Fatah's rival Hamas movement as recognition of Israel.

Hamas has rejected to abide by the PLO commitments, but said it respects them.
