Israeli war aircraft re-bombarded at around midnight the borderline between southern Gaza Strip town of Rafah and Egypt, and no injuries were reported, witnesses said early on Thursday.

They said that Israeli F16 warplanes struck two different targets by bombs in the town, adding that one bomb hit the borderline area and the other hit a metal workshop. Under the borderline there are hundreds of tunnels used for smuggling.

The Israeli airstrikes came after Gaza militant groups fired a homemade rocket at southern Israel. Israeli Radio reported that the rocket hit an empty area, caused no damages or injuries.

The rocket attack is the first since Israel had unilaterally declared an end of a 22-day military assault on the Gaza Strip. Israel's declaration in Jan. 18 was followed by a one-week Gaza militants' declaration of a ceasefire.

The Palestinians expected that Israel would launch more airstrikes within the coming a few hours, as helicopters and aircraft were hovering over different Gaza Strip areas. Israel would apparently react to the Palestinians attacks on Israel.

Meanwhile, the armed wing of Hamas, Islamic Jihad and the Popular Resistance Committees had each claimed responsibility for firing mortar shells at Israeli ground forces that rolled into an area east of central Gaza Strip.

The three armed groups said in separate leaflets that they would continue attacking Israel as long as Israel continues violating the ceasefire.
