Ruling Coalition Stresses Lebanese Unity Towards Palestinians

The ruling March 14 coalition has underlined the importance of a unified Lebanese stance regarding the Palestinian cause and solidarity with Gaza, local An-Nahar daily reported on Tuesday.

"The Palestinians have the right to establish an independent, democratic state, and to return to their homeland safe from Israeli attacks," said a statement issued after the coalition's meeting on Monday night.

The March 14 forces called for a massive rally on the fourth anniversary of the assassinated former Prime Minister Rafik Haririon on February 14.

The statement said participation in the upcoming rally would be "a sign of commitment to the achievements of independence" in Lebanon.

Rafik Hariri was killed along with 20 other people in a massive Beirut car bombing on February 14, 2005. A month later, more than 1 million people turned out to protest against the assassination, leading to the withdrawal of Syrian forces from Lebanon following 29-year presence.
