Post-quake Life of Embroidery Artist in Sichuan

Jia Dehua (L) of Qiang ethnic group visits a friend in new Beichuan County, southwest China's Sichuan Province, May 7, 2011. Jia is famous for her embroidery skills in local county. After the massive earthquake occurred on May 12, 2008, she found her son severely injured in Beichuan Middle School. As she carried the boy and hurried over to the hospital, a taxi driver saw them because of her colorful embroidery clothes and picked them up. "To some extent, it's embroidery saved my son." said Jia. After the earthquake, Jia held a training class free in a temporary house in Beichuan to teach people embroidery skills. Now she opened a embroidery store and led a new life in new Beichuan County. [Xinhua]
