Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) donated 50,000 yuan (US$7648) on Feb 25 to New Zealand 2011 Earthquake Appeal through New Zealand Embassy to China.
"We are here to express our sincere sympathy to the victims of the deadly earthquake which struck New Zealand City Christchurch and brought great loses of human life and property. We hope we could do our best to help them overcome the current difficulties and go back to normal life," Zhou said.
Pam Dunn expressed her deep appreciation on behalf of her government and people to BFA Secretariat and those member companies which provided the donation.
"It is really a special and generous gesture of Boao Forum for Asia Secretariat to provide the donation, and it is touching to see the enormous and quick support provided by Chinese government and people," Dunn said.
She added that the fund will be quickly transferred to the earthquake areas through New Zealand Red Cross.
This donation is part of the BFA Charity Fund which came from contribution of its member companies and BFA Secretariat Staff. Last year the Secretariat donated 50,000 yuan respectively to Zhouqu mudslide hit areas in Gansu Province, Pakistan flood areas, and to Hainan flood-hit areas. Same help also went to several Hope Schools in Guizhou province, the earthquake area in Wenchuan in Sichuan province, as well as to a community construction project in the Philippines in early years.
