Kazakhstan's President Nursultan Nazarbayev arrived on Friday to attend the 2009 meeting of the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) from April 17 to 19 in south China's Hainan Province.
Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao will meet with Nazarbayev on the sideline of the Asian forum on Friday afternoon. The two are expected to exchange views on bilateral relations and other regional and international issues of common concern.
Prior to his departure for Hainan, the Kazakh president already conferred in Beijing with Chinese President Hu Jintao and top legislator Wu Bangguo, agreeing to deepen bilateral cooperation in all fields with China and join hands to tackle the challenge of the international financial crisis.
This is Nazarbayev's second state visit to China since he was re-elected as the Kazakh President in 2005.
The BFA, established in 2001, is a high-level forum where government, business and scholars promote regional economic integration and bring Asian countries closer to their development goals.
Under the theme "Asia: Managing Beyond Crisis," more than 2,700 participants will discuss how to cope with the international financial crisis.
