Russia's Artem Arefyev broke the world record and won the Men's 800m T36 gold medal with a time of two minutes and 8.83 seconds during the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games on September 16, 2008. His compatriot Pavel Kharagezov took bronze, and the silver medal went to China's He Cheng'en.
