Liu Yonghao,

a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and chairman of the New Hope Group, took his daughter Liu Chang to a press conference on Friday that discussed second-generations of wealthy Chinese. Liu Chang said that, as a member of the second-generation of a wealthy family and especially as "the daughter of Liu Yonghao", she often feels more pressure than enjoyment.

"My work is very stressful," she said. "I have to work with pioneering patriarchs like my father and also young employees born in the 1980s and even 1990s. The pressure comes from my trying so hard to be a good worker, but also my attempt to use my wealth in good and responsible ways." Liu Chang is now in charge of overseas business and of the work of the Youth League Committee of the New Hope Group. "It's not an easy job being Liu Yonghao's daughter," she said, smiling.

Interesting quotes from deputies

"Buddhism that can be publicized and socially influenced is healthy Buddhism," said Master Xuecheng, member of the CPPCC Standing Committee and vice-president of the Chinese Buddhist Association.

"Buddhism should keep up with the times and embrace modern technology to promote Buddha's teachings in a way that is innovative and beneficial to the faithful," he said.

He said the results will depend on the quality of teachings and whether they are conveyed in a way meant to inspire kindness, charity and understanding among hearers.

His newly issued book, named 365 days at Longquan Monastery, was the "first book" selected from a Buddhist Monk's micro blog that is posted in Chinese and seven foreign languages. Xuecheng started his multilingual micro blog on Feb 17, 2011, using two important Internet portals, Sina Weibo and QQ, for that purpose. His micro blog says it is read by people from more than 100 countries and that it has more than 200,000 online followers.

Song Yushui

, member of the Beijing Delegation to the National People's Congress and vice-president of the People's Court of Haidian District in Beijing, took eight "special proposals" made by middle school students from Beijing National Day School when registering to attend the NPC on Saturday morning.

"A student from the school sent me a text message last week and entrusted me to bring some proposals to the NPC," Song said. "Their proposals range from promoting public bicycling in Beijing to strengthening off-campus food safety — all very practicable.

"The students are marvelous. They look into things the right amount and have clever ideas. I've learned a lot from them and hope more people can put their concerns into state affairs and show enthusiasm for participating in political activities."

Interesting quotes from deputies

"China's reform of its political structure is ceaseless," said Zhu Heping, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and vice-president of the People's Liberation Army's Air Force Command College, on Saturday. "We've taken on reforms in the past 30 years," he said. "Different from the reforms adopted in some Eastern European countries, the reforms in China have been made in an orderly manner and are in accordance with national conditions. "You can learn by looking at the two sessions this year — for example the reshuffle of the national committees of NPC and CPPCC — that our reformed political structure is more open and transparent compared with the latest one." Zhu's proposals are on cultural construction, including protection on revolutionary sites and relics.
