Most of China will experience spring-like temperatures in the next 10 days, rather than temperature drops, according to the China Meteorological Administration (CMA).
Dense rainfall will hit south China from March 3 to 7, and temperatures along the Yangtze and Huaihe rivers will be dragged down one or two degrees Celsius, said Chen Zhenlin, director of the CMA's Department of Emergency Response, Disaster Mitigation and Public Services, on Friday.
Drought-hit Yunnan province in the southwest of the country will suffer further low precipitation of less than eight millimeters on average from March 2 to 4, and will experience warm and dry weather afterwards, according to the CMA.
Beijing will also be mild in the next 10 days, with an average temperature of two to five degrees Celsius and a low of two degrees above zero, meaning pleasant conditions for the upcoming sessions of the National People's Congress and Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.
Chen warned that gales and sand storms in the north and strong convective weather in the south may threaten agricultural production and public traffic.
He also suggested residents wear more clothes amid fast-changing temperatures in March to prevent colds, flu and heart diseases.
