Nikkei Opens Lower as Strong Aftershock Strikes Japan

Nikkei opened lower Friday on jitters over a strong aftershock the night before which dented investor sentiment.
In the first 15 minutes of trading, the benchmark Nikkei-225 index fell 18.35 points, or 0.19 percent, from Thursday to 9,572. 58.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 3.97 points, or 0.47 percent, to 837.13.
