South Korea confirmed Monday that another South Korean was killed in the magnitude-9.0 earthquake that hit Japan last week, bringing the death toll of South Koreans to three.
South Korean authorities were notified by Japan that a 62-year- old man, identified only by his last name as Lee, was found dead.
Lee had lived in Natori City, Miyagi Prefecture, worst hit by the devastating earthquake and tsunami, South Korea's foreign ministry said.
Officials have notified Lee's family of his death.
A previous government estimate showed some 910,000 South Koreans reside in Japan, with 10,000 of them living near the city of Sendai, the closest major city to the epicenter of the quake.
