A train rolls along the Tsonag Lake in northern Tibet Autonomous Region on July 20, 2006. The world's highest and longest plateau railway Qinghai –Tibet Railway started in July 2006. This railway starts from the east end of Xining, capital city of Qinghai Province to its west end in Lhasa, Tibet, covering 1,956 kilometers overall. Some 960 kilometers of track is 4,000 meters above sea level.[Xinhua]
