CAREC Institute Director: sharing experiences to strengthen climate resilience in Global South

China and Central Asia share similar ecological vulnerabilities, including desertification, water scarcity, and glacial melting—making climate cooperation both a necessity. In this interview, Charymuhammet Shallyyev, director of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Institute, shares his insights on how regional collaboration can drive green transformation. He highlights the impressive progress of China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in desertification control, wind and solar energy expansion, and water-efficient agriculture—practices that offer valuable, replicable models for Central Asian countries.
