China's daily necessity supplies remain adequate despite rainstorms, flooding

Xinhua, July 17, 2026 Adjust font size:

China's supply of daily necessities remains sufficient despite heavy rainfall and typhoon-induced flooding in several regions, the Ministry of Commerce said on Thursday.

He Yadong, a spokesperson for the ministry, told a regular press conference that the ministry has been providing targeted coordination and guidance to flood-hit regions such as Guangxi in south China to ensure the stable supply of essentials.

The ministry has ramped up monitoring of grain, cooking oil, meat, eggs, vegetables and other commodities, while closely tracking supply and demand in key areas, he said.

Authorities will step up market trend monitoring, boost procurement, and remain prepared for cross-regional allocation to ensure market stability, He added. ■
