Official data from China Railway Beijing Group showed the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway has run more than 2.22 million trains over the past 15 years, safely transporting over 2.3 billion passenger trips.

The 1,318-km rail line connecting China's capital Beijing and the economic hub Shanghai marked its 15th anniversary since starting operations on Tuesday.

The steady growth of transport capacity is supported by continuous technological innovation and operation scheme optimization. The fastest one-way travel time between the two cities now stands at 4 hours and 18 minutes.

Currently, the total operating mileage of China's high-speed railway exceeds 50,000 kilometers. ■
