The Anhui Provincial Medical Products Administration said Thursday night that it would seriously punish those responsible after information from an assistance registration form involving an employee drew public attention online.

In a statement posted on its official WeChat account, the administration said a preliminary review found that one of its grassroots units had acted carelessly while conducting an initial survey of potential recipients for an assistance program for employees facing hardship.

The unit filled out the registration form during the preliminary process. However, a later review found that the person concerned did not meet the required criteria, and the individual was not included in the final list of people to be supported, the statement said.

The administration said it would deal seriously with the responsible personnel, improve its work style, and enhance the quality and efficiency of its operations.

An anonymized form circulating online appeared to show a 63-year-old retired worker being registered as an employee in financial difficulty. The retiree had a monthly income of 7,899 yuan ($1,163), while her husband earned 12,100 yuan a month.
