China starts operation of three high-performance carbon fiber production lines

Xinhua, July 01, 2026 Adjust font size:

China National Building Material Group Co., Ltd. (CNBM) put three world-class high-performance carbon fiber production lines into operation on Sunday, strengthening China's supply of high-end carbon fiber products.

The lines, located at the Lianyungang base of CNBM subsidiary Zhongfu Shenying Carbon Fiber Co., Ltd. in east China's Jiangsu Province, cover the three major categories of general-purpose, high-strength and high-modulus carbon fiber.

Carbon fiber, known for its light weight, high strength and corrosion resistance, is widely used in fields such as new energy, aerospace, deep-sea, deep-Earth and deep-space applications, sports equipment and 3C electronics.

The new lines, independently developed by Zhongfu Shenying, are made up of a 5,000-tonne large-tow carbon fiber line, a 1,000-tonne SYT70 T1100-grade high-strength carbon fiber line, and a 600-tonne high-modulus carbon fiber line.

Zhou Yuxian, chairman of CNBM, said the launch addresses structural problems like insufficient supply of high-end carbon fiber products and an incomplete product spectrum, while enabling full-category coverage across general-purpose, high-strength and high-modulus products.

These new lines will also help address common challenges in the engineering and mass production of high-end materials and will significantly enhance the security and resilience of China's supply of key strategic materials, Zhou said. ■
