China's fiscal revenue growth improves in first five months

China's general public budget revenue rose 4 percent year on year in the first five months of 2026, official data showed on Monday, pointing to continued improvement in fiscal revenue.

The revenue totaled 10.0465 trillion yuan (about 1.47 trillion U.S. dollars) during the January-May period, according to data released by the Ministry of Finance. The growth rate was 0.5 percentage points higher than that recorded in the first four months of the year.

Tax revenue climbed 4.4 percent year on year to 8.2617 trillion yuan, while non-tax revenue increased 2.2 percent to 1.7848 trillion yuan.

China's general public budget expenditure reached 11.3877 trillion yuan in the first five months of 2026, up 0.8 percent year on year, with spending in key areas well supported.
