Xinhua, June 24, 2026 Adjust font size:

China's postal sector recorded stable growth in delivery volume in the first five months of 2026, data released by the State Post Bureau showed Monday.

From January to May, the postal sector handled 89.89 billion parcels, up 4.3 percent year on year. Out of these, express deliveries accounted for 82.87 billion parcels, growing 5.2 percent.

By segment, intra-city express deliveries totaled 5.88 billion parcels, down 8.5 percent year on year, while inter-city deliveries reached 75.22 billion parcels, up 6.4 percent.

Monday's data also showed that international express deliveries as well as parcels bound for China's Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regions hit 1.78 billion, up 7.4 percent year on year.

Handling more than 16 billion parcels monthly and processing over 6,200 parcels per second, China's fast-growing express delivery market is seen as an indicator of the nation's economic vitality and consumption potential. For more than a decade, China's express delivery market has been the world's largest, partly driven by robust online consumption.
