Yang Xiaohui, director of the Office of the National Committee for the Blindness Prevention; Yu Dongyun, member of the Party Committee of the China National Children’s Center and director of its International Exchange Center; and Zhang Yan, chief representative of The Fred Hollows Foundation (Australia) Kunming Representative Office, attended the event and delivered remarks.

Xu Hui, an ophthalmology expert from Beijing Tongren Hospital, delivered a keynote lecture on “Childhood Myopia Prevention and Control and Scientific Eye Care.” More than 20 ophthalmologists from Beijing Tongren Hospital also provided on-site services for children, including visual acuity screening, refractive assessment, and personalized eye care consultations.

More than a public education initiative on family eye health, the event represented an in-depth practice of multi-stakeholder collaboration bringing together a national-level children’s platform, professional medical guidance, and international philanthropic support.

According to the China National Children’s Center, it will continue to align with the healthy China initiative and the requirements for children’s development in the new era. It will further deepen family-oriented eye health education, enrich public-interest education channels, expand access to quality science communication resources, and strengthen family-based education settings. Through these efforts, the center aims to build broader social consensus and collective action on eye protection, promote inclusive, regular, and sustainable children’s eye health services, and help lay a strong health foundation for the well-rounded development of children.
