Xinhua, May 06, 2026 Adjust font size:

China's completed investment in major transportation projects stood at 330 billion yuan (about 48.11 billion U.S. dollars) in the first quarter (Q1) of 2026, the Ministry of Transport said on Tuesday.

The construction of 1,845 highway and waterway projects, each with investment of more than 100 million yuan, is being accelerated, the ministry added.

A total of 174 major transportation projects were launched during the period, bringing about 16 billion yuan in new investment, according to the ministry.

Major transportation infrastructure projects play an important role in driving economic development. During the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-2030), landmark projects such as the Shiziyang Channel in south China's Guangdong Province, and Zhangjinggao Yangtze River Bridge in east China's Jiangsu Province are expected to be completed and put into operation. ■
