China's digital reading works top 70 mln titles: report

China's total digital reading works surpassed 70 million titles by the end of 2025, up more than 11.8 percent from a year earlier, according to an industry report released on Monday.

The growth rate accelerated from the previous year, indicating a strong and sustained supply of digital reading content in China, according to the 2025 National Report on Digital Reading.

Compiled by the China Audio-Video and Digital Publishing Association, the report was issued at the fifth National Conference on Reading held in Nanchang, east China's Jiangxi Province.

The report was based on surveys of 167 digital reading platforms and enterprises, traditional publishing houses, internet companies, research institutions, and telecommunications operators, as well as more than 30,000 digital reading users nationwide.

Among these digital reading works, a total of 949,200 titles have gone global, including translations of Chinese online literature and overseas original works. The figure marked a year-on-year increase of over 17 percent, the report showed.

In 2025, China's digital reading users expanded to 689 million, up 2.95 percent from the previous year. The penetration rate of digital reading among internet users stood at 61.24 percent, according to the report. ■
