Phoenix TV of Hong Kong marks 30th anniversary, eyes wider global reach

The Hong Kong-based broadcaster Phoenix TV celebrated its 30th anniversary in a ceremony here on Tuesday.

Addressing the ceremony, John Lee, chief executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, said that the 30th anniversary is not only a milestone for reviewing Phoenix TV's achievements, but also a starting point for a new era.

Phoenix TV should continue to leverage its strong international communication strengths to better tell China's stories, Lee added.

Xu Wei, chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Phoenix TV, said that "embracing change" has always been the key to the company's development.

Looking ahead, Phoenix aims to enable Chinese culture to transcend borders and reach a wider audience while also serving as a platform builder for international exchanges, Xu said.

Founded in 1996, Phoenix TV now has 63 news bureaus worldwide and operates six television channels, with its signal covering 190 countries and regions globally. Over recent years, the broadcaster has seen steady growth in its user base across international media platforms.
