China's digital economy, culture, tourism sectors see expanded shares of GDP in 2024

The added value of core industries of China's digital economy, culture and tourism sectors accounted for increased shares of gross domestic product (GDP) in 2024, the National Bureau of Statistics said on Tuesday.

Last year, the added value of the digital economy's core industries totaled 14 trillion yuan (about 1.99 trillion U.S. dollars), accounting for 10.5 percent of GDP, which was up from 9.9 percent in 2023.

The added value of the country's culture and related industries came in at approximately 6.2 trillion yuan, or 4.61 percent of GDP, an increase of 0.02 percentage points from the previous year.

The added value of tourism and related industries reached 5.86 trillion yuan, representing 4.35 percent of GDP and up 0.11 percentage points compared to the previous year.
