Hao Rong, president of the Central Academy of Drama in Beijing, is currently under investigation for suspected serious violations of Party disciplines and national law after turning himself in, according to a statement released by China's top anti-corruption watchdogs on Friday.

The statement said the investigation is being conducted by a team of the Communist Party of China Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Commission of Supervision stationed at the Ministry of Education, together with the supervision commission of Xuchang city in Henan province.

Public information shows that Hao graduated from the Department of Acting at the Central Academy of Drama. He previously served as deputy head and head of the department, as well as vice-president of the academy, before assuming the post of president in 2018.
