Shanghai Disney Resort achieved a milestone last week as it welcomed its 100 millionth visitor since opening its gates in 2016. The resort also unveiled plans Monday for a fourth themed hotel, signaling continued expansion of the entertainment destination.

According to the recently released TEA Global Experience Index 2024 by the Themed Entertainment Association on Oct 23, Shanghai Disneyland achieved a record-breaking annual attendance of 14.7 million visitors in 2024. The park also ranked fifth in attendance among the "top 25 amusement/theme parks worldwide" and remained first in China.

The newly announced hotel will be located adjacent to the main entrance of Shanghai Disneyland. The expansion project will also incorporate new shopping and dining experiences.

The new hotel will join the resort's existing accommodation offerings, which include the Shanghai Disneyland Hotel, Toy Story Hotel, and a third hotel currently under construction.

Shanghai Disney Resort is simultaneously advancing several major expansion projects. These include a new Spider-Man-themed land, set to become the park's ninth themed area, an expansion of the popular "soaring over the horizon" attraction, and a residential complex for front-line employees.
