North China land port sees freight volume top 20 million tonnes

Xinhua, October 22, 2025 Adjust font size:

As of Tuesday, China-Europe freight trains transiting through Erenhot Port -- the largest land port between China and Mongolia -- had cumulatively transported over 20 million tonnes of cargo since their launch in 2013, with nearly 21,000 train trips recorded to date.

Currently, the port's customs oversee an average of 12 daily China-Europe freight train movements. According to port authorities, the facility now operates 74 routes connecting more than 140 cities or stations across 10 Asian and European countries.

The cargo mix transported via China-Europe freight trains has grown increasingly diversified, with high-value-added items including domestically produced vehicles, machinery and equipment, and electronic appliances comprising over 40 percent of the total shipments.

This service has emerged as a vital gateway for Made-in-China products to access global markets, said Zhang Jianwei, deputy head of Erenhot Customs.
