Chinese stocks closed mixed on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.39 percent to 3,868.38 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.26 percent higher at 12,473.17 points.

The combined turnover of these two indices stood at 2.68 trillion yuan (about 376.47 billion U.S. dollars), down from 3.14 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.

Stocks related to pork and video games led the gains, while stocks related to contract research organizations and permanent magnetic materials suffered major losses.

The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, lost 0.76 percent to close at 2,742.13 points. ■
