China's e-commerce sector saw continuous development in the first 11 months in 2024, the Ministry of Commerce said on Friday.

Online retails increased steadily. Data from the National Bureau of Statistics show China registered online retail sales of 14 trillion yuan ($1.92 trillion) in the first 11 months, up 7.4 percent over the same period in 2023. Among them, sales of physical commodities grew by 6.8 percent. Online sales of kitchen hoods and smart home devices surged 62.7 percent and 22.2 percent year-on-year. While sales of services grew by 18.3 percent, of which takeaway deliveries and tourism services increased 48.2 percent and 18.2 percent on a yearly basis.

Data from the Ministry of Commerce show sales of industrial e-commerce platforms with a scale above 10 billion yuan rose steadily in the January-November period.

This year, China has held several promotional events to help Silk Road e-commerce partner countries participate in the Chinese market. In November, the sales of Uzbekistan confectionery and Indonesian coffee beans on China's key e-commerce platforms increased by 102.4 percent and 35.9 percent, according to the Ministry of Commerce.
