China's broadcasting watchdog solicits public opinions for legislation

Xinhua,March 18, 2021 Adjust font size:

China's broadcasting watchdog has started public opinion solicitation on a draft radio and television law, said a notification published on Tuesday on the website of the National Radio and Television Administration.

The draft legislation specifies nine types of content to be banned from radio and television broadcasting, as well as seven broadcasting categories that are supported by the country.

It stipulates that radio and television organizations make industrial regulations as per the law to protect the legitimate rights and interests of their members and maintain a healthy development of the sector.

Radio and television practitioners should abide by laws and regulations, respect social morality, and observe professional ethics, the draft said.

It also lets broadcasting authorities impose necessary restrictions on radio and television programs for violations of relevant laws or regulations by its producers or cast members. Enditem
