China's procuratorates support healthy development of private businesses

BEIJING, Feb. 7 (Xinhua) -- China's procuratorates have improved practices in handling cases involving private enterprises so as to facilitate the healthy development of the private sector, the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) said Sunday.

In 2020, China's procuratorates prosecuted more than 2,300 people for crimes of impeding management order of companies or enterprises, over 40,100 for crimes of disturbing market order, and over 7,800 for crimes of duty or funds embezzlement, according to Zheng Xinjian, a senior procurator with the SPP.

While cracking down on relevant crimes, procuratorates have followed a judicial principle of making "fewer arrests, fewer detentions and cautious prosecution" and comprehensively applied criminal prosecution, administrative penalty and economic penalty to properly deal with the cases.
