Camel-themed event kicks off in north China

HOHHOT, Nov. 15 (Xinhua) -- A camel-themed sporting event kicked off on Sunday in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, attracting more than 1,000 camels.


The third Camel Culture Naadam Fair took place in Ejin Banner, Alxa League, and consisted of 15km, 8,000m, 4,000m, 2,000m camel races as well as 4X2,000m relay race.


Organizers also held 20km, 4,000m horse races and 4,000m horse walking activity.


Alxa League is known as one of the camels' hometowns in China. As of June 2020, there are a total of 131,400 camels in Alxa, accounting for one-third of the entire population of the breed across the country.
