Wild giant panda mother, cub captured on camera

Xinhua,November 13, 2020 Adjust font size:

An infrared camera has captured footage of a wild giant panda mother and her cub drinking water in a panda national park in southwest China's Sichuan Province.

The video, taken during the daytime, showed the panda mother leaning over shrubbery to drink water while the cub followed, holding onto a fallen tree trunk, ready to also drink water at the Fengtongzhai section of the Giant Panda National Park, according to the administration of the park on Thursday.

The cub, however, was far away from the water, unable to reach it, so it laid on the trunk to drink the water. After a few mouthfuls, it immediately got up and played with the bamboo nearby.

Another video shot at night also captured this panda mother and cub drinking water here.

The staff of the administration said the cub is about one and a half years old and is still with its mother.

It is the second time this wild giant panda mother and cub have been captured by infrared cameras in the park, following an earlier sighting at the same spot last year.

In 2017, China announced a plan to build the Giant Panda National Park spanning three provinces to help the endangered animals mingle and strengthen their gene pool, which will bring together pandas isolated on six mountains in Gansu, Shaanxi and Sichuan. Enditem
