Over 200 cooperation projects inked under China-Singapore connectivity initiative

Xinhua,May 13, 2020 Adjust font size:

A total of 211 cooperation projects have been inked under the framework of a China-Singapore connectivity initiative, authorities said Tuesday.

The value of the projects totaled 31.8 billion U.S. dollars, said Han Baochang, head of the management bureau of the China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity, which was officially launched in November 2015.

Cooperation was mainly conducted in four major areas, including financial services, air transportation, logistics and information and communications technologies, according to Han.

Two cooperation agreements have been signed and three projects have been implemented since this year, with a total value of more than 30 million U.S. dollars, despite the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic.

The China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity aims to conduct pilot cooperation in various fields. It is the third such cooperation initiative between China and Singapore, following the Suzhou Industrial Park established in China's eastern province of Jiangsu in 1994, and the Tianjin Eco-city inaugurated in 2008 in north China.
