China's procuratorates have supported the filing of civil lawsuits by migrant workers and other vulnerable groups demanding various payments in an effort to assist in poverty alleviation in the country, according to the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP).

Lawsuits filed by migrant workers or people with disabilities to seek payments of remuneration, compensation or for living expenses were supported by procuratorates in accordance with the law, Feng Xiaoguang, a procurator with the SPP, said on Monday in an online interview when talking about the achievements in civil prosecution over the last year.

Data showed that as of November 2019, procuratorates nationwide had supported the filing of over 13,800 civil lawsuits, of which more than 9,000 were filed by migrant workers, Feng said. Enditem
