China to win the battle against poverty by 2020

The Statistical Communique on China's 2019 National Economic and Social Development issued by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) of China indicates that the country has achieved remarkable results in poverty alleviation.China is in the process of achieving its goal of eradicating extreme poverty by the end of 2020 and forming a society that ismoderately and comprehensively prosperous. 

About 11.09 million people and 340 counties escaped from poverty over the course of 2019; the poverty rate stood at 0.6 percent i n China's rural areas at the end of last year,down from 1.7 percent at the end of 2018. The country is making every effort to help the approximately 5.51 million people who were impoverished at the end of 2019 escape from poverty.
