National policies have helped China’s civil aviation industry maintain steady momentum in recent years amid downward economic pressure. Approximately 7.532 million ton-miles of freight and cargo were transported via civil aviation craft in 2019, which was 2.0 percent higher than in 2018. Sixty percent of what American craft handled, China’s 2019 figure was the second highest in the world.
