Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to China Archil Kalandia recently said in a written interview with China.org.cn about the COVID-19 pandemic that China has adopted innovative measures to tackle the conoravirus and made enormous effort to protect the people. That effort is remarkable and a very good example for many countries all around the world.

Archil Kalandia, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to China

China.org.cn: How do you think the world’s countries should collaborate in the battle against the COVID-19 epidemic as it spreads and becomes a common challenge for the international community?

Archil Kalandia: Take Georgia as an example, from the beginning of the outbreak in Wuhan, we took strong measures to prevent and detect imported cases. Georgia has been a leading reformer. International community recognized that this has positioned the country well to deliver its response to the pandemic, including through tax concessions to the hard-hit tourism industry, expanding access to funding for micro, small and medium sized enterprises and private individuals. These measures will ensure that countries are able to use resources effectively for a quicker recovery.

I totally agree with the World Health Organization – This is time for facts, not fear. This is time for science not rumors; this is time for solidarity not stigma. These are challenging days but together with the joint efforts, we will definitely overcome Covid-19.

China.org.cn: China has kept the concept of humanity’s shared future in mind, released information about the COVID-19 in a timely manner, and shared its experiences related to prevention and control, diagnosis, and treatment since the outbreak started. What is your opinion of these kinds of efforts and contributions?

Archil Kalandia: China has adopted innovative measures to tackle the virus and made enormous effort to protect the people. That effort is remarkable and a very good example for many countries all around the world.

In this regard, we are encouraged by the continued decline cases in Beijing and throughout the country. Thanks to these arduous efforts, the situation is increasingly trending in a positive direction. I would like to express full confidence in China`s ability to win this battle against Covid-19.

I would like to express sincere gratitude to the Government of PRC for the donation of Test Kits (Reagents) for Georgia, which are in crucial need for many countries of the world. This reflects solid friendship and partnership between our countries.
