Senior CPC official stresses strengthening Party building to fight poverty

Xinhua,March 31, 2020 Adjust font size:

Senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official Chen Xi on Monday called on the Party's organizational departments to make solid efforts in strengthening Party building and help secure a decisive victory in poverty alleviation.

Chen, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and head of the CPC Central Committee's Organization Department, made the remarks at a teleconference held in Beijing.

Organizational departments should inspire officials to pool their wisdom and strength and take on their responsibilities in reducing poverty, identify promising officials working on the frontline of poverty relief and focus on their practical training in the work, Chen noted.

Chen stressed encouraging badly needed talent to work in communities and on the frontlines in poverty-stricken areas and showing more care for officials working on poverty alleviation at the primary level.

Efforts are needed to oppose formalities for formalities' sake and bureaucratism in the fight against poverty, he said, adding that officials who fail to take on their responsibilities or neglect their duties in poverty relief will be punished.
