China to solicit public proposals for legislative programs

China's Ministry of Justice has started to solicit proposals from the public for legislative programs for 2020 as part of the country's efforts to uphold and improve the system of socialism with Chinese characteristics and advance the modernization of China's system and capacity for governance.

According to an announcement by the ministry, priorities shall be given to legislative programs that aim to improve the system of institutions through which the people run the country, the system of socialist rule of law with Chinese characteristics, the government administration system of socialism with Chinese characteristics, the basic socialist economic system and the unified systems for ensuring the wellbeing of both urban and rural residents.

The proposals should include the title, the importance and feasibility of the programs, as well as the major issues expected to be solved and the systems to be established through legislation.

The public can submit proposals by letter or e-mail before Dec. 5.
