"Our Common Homeland," a live orchestral performance featuring traditional Chinese music resonating with Western instruments, will be staged at the National Center for the Performing Arts on Wednesday.

Exploring the idea of building a community with a shared future for humanity, the performance will creatively integrate traditional Chinese music with Western instruments, including the South Asian tabla, the Irish tin whistle, the Russian stringed instrument balalaika, the Spanish guitar and the African drum, across four music chapters.

Created by the Shanghai Chinese Orchestra in 2018, the musical performance was staged at the 20th China Shanghai International Arts Festival and an art show during the Conference on Dialogue of Asian Civilizations.
