China's top justice Wednesday urged efforts to provide high-level judicial service and protection for the high-quality development of the country's economy.

Zhou Qiang, president of the Supreme People's Court, made the remarks at a national conference on civil and commercial trials.

He stressed efforts to create a business environment based on rule of law as a work focus for courts nationwide and called on the courts to fully perform their functions regarding civil and commercial trials for this purpose.

Zhou said the quality, efficiency and effect of the court trials need to be improved to ensure a stable, fair, transparent and predictable environment for doing business.

He also stressed comprehensive, law-based and equal protection of property rights.

Financial cases should be properly handled, Zhou said, noting that such work should better serve the real economy as well as the efforts in financial risk prevention and control and deepening reforms in the financial sector.
