China's two largest marine fishery research vessels were put into service at the Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd in Shanghai on Friday, according to the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences (CAFS).

The two vessels, named Lanhai (Blue Ocean) 101 and Lanhai 201 respectively, will be operated by the Yellow Sea Fisheries Research Institute and East China Sea Fisheries Research Institute of CAFS, respectively.

They will enable scientists to carry out surveys on marine fishery resources and environment, as well as marine comprehensive studies.

Wang Xiaohu, president of CAFS, said the delivery of the two vessels marks a new starting point of China's marine fishery research and comprehensive utilization of fishery resources.
